    David B. Nash, MD, MBA is the Founding Dean of the Jefferson School of Population Health where he is the Dr. Raymond C. and Doris N. Grandon Professor of Health Policy. He is a board certified internist and is internationally recognized for his work in outcomes management, medical staff development and quality-of-care. He has authored more than 100 articles in major journals, edited 22 books, and is editor-in-chief of four major national journals.

    Dr. Gregory Dorn is the president of Hearst Health, which includes FDB, Zynx Health, MCG, Homecare Homebase, as well as its international business, innovation lab, and venture fund.

    For decades, Dr. Dorn has been focused on raising the standard of excellence in patient care across the healthcare spectrum, through clinically rigorous guidance delivered by efficient, scalable technology. He is the co-inventor of two patented healthcare software technologies that continue to be used in health systems across the U.S.

    Dorn received his medical doctorate from Columbia University and his clinical training at UCLA, where he also obtained his master's degree in health services management.
Stephen K. Klasko, MD, MBA
President and Chief Executive Officer, Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health, Philadelphia, PA

    Stephen K. Klasko, MD, MBA, serves as President and CEO of Thomas Jefferson University and the Jefferson Health System. He previously served as CEO of USF Health and Dean of the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida and Dean of the College of Medicine at Drexel University. Dr. Klasko received his bachelor's degree in chemistry and biology from Lehigh University and earned his medical degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. He completed his MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a board certified and actively practicing OB-GYN.

    Dr. Julie Gerberding is Executive Vice President, Strategic Communications, Global Public Policy, and Population Health at Merck & Co., Inc, where she also has responsibility for the Merck for Mothers program and the Merck Foundation. Julie joined Merck in 2010 as President of Merck Vaccines. She previously served as Director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 2002-2009. In this position, she led the agency through more than 40 emergency responses to public health crises. Dr. Gerberding received her undergraduate and M.D. degrees from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). She serves on the Boards of CWRU, National Association of City and Country Health Officials (NACCHO) Foundation, Accordia Global Health Foundation, MSD Wellcome Trust Hilleman Laboratories, and the BIO Executive Committee.

    Speaker Bio

    Harold Paz is executive vice president and chief medical officer for Aetna. He leads clinical strategy and policy, driving innovation to improve member experience, quality and cost.

    Before joining Aetna in 2014, Dr. Paz served as CEO of Penn State Hershey Medical Center and Health System, and dean of Penn State College of Medicine. Prior to that, he served as dean of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and CEO of its medical group.

    Dr. Paz is focused on clinical outcomes, health system organization, and healthcare effectiveness. He is professor adjunct of internal medicine at Yale University School of Medicine.

    Speaker Bio

    Dr. James Pope is Vice President and Chief Science Officer of Healthways, Inc., where he oversees medical and scientific integrity, analytic consultative services, process quality improvements, outcomes and applied research. He joined Healthways in 2003 and has served in various leadership roles during his tenure with the company, including Chief Medical Officer and Chief Operating Officer, prior to being named Chief Science Officer in 2008.

    As Healthways Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Pope held responsibility for product development and delivery for all US business from 2006 to 2008, a time when Healthways achieved significant growth in revenue and net income. He established the Healthways Center for Health Research while serving as Chief Medical Officer, performing advanced analytics with data collected from millions of participants over twenty-five years of Healthways programming. As Chief Medical Officer he also led oversight of all medical quality initiatives and Informatics.

Director of Global Healthcare Transformation, IBM, Founding President, Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC), Hopewell Junction, NY

    Speaker Bio

    Paul Grundy is IBM Corporation's global director of healthcare transformation and known as the Godfather of the PCMH. In this role, he develops and executes strategies that support IBM's transformation initiatives in the healthcare industry. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Utah Department of Family and Preventive Medicine. Paul won the NCQA national quality award for 2012.

    He is a Member of the Institute of Medicine, IBM Industry Academy he serves as a director of the ACGME the body responsible for accrediting graduate medical training programs, Dr Grundy is a member of the national advisory board of the National Center for interprofessional education, Medical Education Futures Study and is President of the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative, a coalition he led IBM in creating in early 2006.

    Karen Handmaker is Vice President of Population Health Strategies at IBM Watson Health.

    Karen has deep population health expertise gained through a unique combination of private and public sector provider, employer and payer market clients over the past 16 years. In senior roles at leading national care management vendors and benefits firms, Karen developed and implemented total population health management programs for Fortune 500TM employers. Prior to this, Karen did strategic consulting for provider systems and health plans in the US and in Asia for 14 years.

    At Phytel, an IBM Company since 2010, and now at IBM Watson Health, Karen assists health system clients and healthcare partners to achieve their strategic and Triple Aim objectives with IBM Watson Health's population health suite of products and services, in alignment with the patient-centered medical home model and evolving value-based payment. Karen is also a frequent writer, speaker and trainer on population health and practice transformation in health care.

    Karen earned her BA in American Studies at Trinity College (Hartford, CT) and a Master in Public Policy degree at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. Karen is a PCMH Certified Content Expert and she has completed Lean Six Sigma training at the Institute for Lean Systems. Karen is an active member of the editorial board of the journal Population Health Management.

Scott Bourn

    Scott Bourn PhD, RN, EMT-P serves as Senior Vice President of Quality Measurement and Improvement at Evolution Health (EvH). Prior to joining EvH in 2015 Dr. Bourn served as Vice President of Clinical Practices and Research at American Medical Response, leading the development of a unified strategy for quality measurement and improvement across AMR's 40 state footprint. During his ten years of leadership AMR documented strong improvement in pain relief, appropriate care of time-sensitive conditions, and survival from cardiac arrest.

    Dr. Bourn has held numerous regional and national leadership positions including: Colorado State EMS and Trauma Advisory council for nine years (5 as Chair); National Association of EMS Educators Board 2007-2015 (President 2013-2015); National Association of EMS Physicians Board 2013-2015; Advocates for EMS Board 2010-2013 (President 2012-2013).

    Dr. Bill Winkenwerder is Chairman and CEO of Winkenwerder Strategies, a healthcare advisory and investment firm. Manisundaram's strategic vision has led the development of Adventist HealthCare's HIE. Manisundaram has propelled the adoption of EHR systems by more than 400+ Physicians in Maryland. He was previously a management consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton as Program Manager for the National Cancer Institute's caGRID (cancer grid). He currently serves on Board of the Mid-Atlantic ACO and the Advisory Board Technology for CRISP - Maryland HIE and the HIE Policy Board for the Maryland HealthCare Commission. Jack Price
Director Population Health Informatics and Technology, Delaware Valley ACO, Radnor, PA

    Speaker Bio

    Jack began his career in healthcare information technology as a programmer and progressed to Project Manager and Director of Information Services at Milford Memorial Hospital (now Bay Health Medical Center). From there, Jack spent three years as Manager of Systems Development for Christiana Care prior to becoming CIO for Shore Health System in Maryland in 2000.

    After joining HIMSS Analytics, Jack led and participated in a number of research studies on a variety of healthcare technology subjects. In 2007, he accepted an invitation from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology to become a member of the American Health Information Community's Electronic Health Records Workgroup. Also during that time, he developed and launched HIMSS' new Organizational Affiliate membership program.

    Since HIMSS, Jack has been working as a consultant assisting healthcare organizations in developing and implementing Health Information Exchange strategies to support Accountable Care Organizations.

    In June 2015, Jack began a consulting engagement with the Delaware Valley Accountable Care Organization as Interim Director of IT and in January of 2016 joined the DVACO as Director of Population Health Informatics and Technology.

    Dr. Harm Scherpbier is an independent Health IT Consultant. He works on behalf of healthcare software firms and healthcare providers, with a focus on Population Health Management systems, Electronic Medical Records, interoperability and Clinical Decision Support Systems. Dr. Scherpbier is adjunct faculty at the Jefferson College of Population Health where he teaches Health Informatics and Population Health Analytics. Susan B. Frampton, PhD

    Speaker Bio

    Susan Frampton is the President of Planetree, a non-profit advocacy and membership organization that works with a growing international network of healthcare provider organizations to implement patient-/person-centered models of care. Dr. Frampton, a medical anthropologist, has authored numerous publications, including the third edition of Putting Patients First. Dr. Frampton serves as co-chair of the National Quality Partnership, a collaborative of national organizations convened by National Quality Forum working to identify strategies for improving safety, quality and patient-centered outcomes for the U.S. health care system. She co-chaired the NQP (Re)admissions Action Team in 2013, the Patient Family Engagement Team in 2015, and currently chairs the Advanced Illness Care Team. Dr. Frampton participated on the WHO Patient Engagement Expert Panel, serves on the governing board of the WHO-CC Health Promoting Hospitals Network, and currently chairs the National Academy of Medicine's Scientific Advisory Panel on the Evidence Base for Patient-Engaged Care.

    In her position at Atrius Health, Emily has developed opportunities to support transformational work that measurably improves healthcare within value-based payment models. Key accomplishments include securing Atrius Health's participation in, and leading our implementation of, the Pioneer ACO model, an initiative of CMS' Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation. She is currently working with local health plans partnering with MassHealth (Massachusetts Medicaid) and Medicare on a demonstration for the "dual eligibles," developing new care models for patients with both Medicare and Medicaid. At the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, she directed the Center for Employee Wellness and Health Promotion and was a Senior Advisor to the Federal Government on worker health.     Dr. Hayworth has been President and Chief Executive Officer of the Mount Kisco Medical Group (MKMG), one of the largest multispecialty medical groups in New York, since 1996. In this role he has overseen a more than tenfold expansion in the size of MKMG, from 40 physicians to 450, and developed a national reputation as an authority on practice administration, multispecialty group management, and adaptation to the rapidly changing environment in health care.
