DISEASE MANAGEMENT COLLOQUIUM AGENDA:
Preconference Symposia
Monday, May 19, 2008

7:00 a.m. Registration Commences
Preconference Symposia
(Choose one Preconference only)

Preconference I: Preconference/Certification Exam - Critical Analysis of Disease Management and Wellness Outcomes Reports

Session/Exam Overview: Roughly 80% of all outcomes reports for disease management and wellness contain flaws serious enough to invalidate the entire outcome. Identifying these flaws doesn't require advanced biostatistics or actuarial knowledge, but rather just learning how to read these like an informed buyer. The first half of the session will be devoted to going through examples, where attendees will have the opportunity to spot the flaws. The second half will be an optional test, where each attendee can go through a sample report on his/her own, to identify the flaws. Attendees who find more than 70% of the findable flaws are deemed to meet the expert standard to join the sixty other people who already have received Critical Outcomes Report Analysis certification from DMPC. Attendees who don't wish to take the test may opt instead to join the second half of Preconference Symposium #2.

Preconference II: Achieving and Measuring Return on Investment (ROI) from Disease Management Initiatives

In this symposium, the field's leading biostatistician (as measured by number of articles published and awards won) and leading procurement consultant (as measured by number of disease management programs procured and awards won) offer their perspectives on what went right, what went wrong, what still needs to be done, and how to apply them to a payor's contracting and measurement efforts.
